Guys. I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am about this. Like, super duper.
A little while ago, I was stalking perusing instagram. One of the equestrians I follow posted a little IG contest for something called "the Herbal Horse." I immediately started following the Herbal Horse and ventured over to her Etsy shop. We know I love Etsy. When I failed to win the contest, I still didn't hesitate to buy some products.
I fell in love with everything that I've tried: Be Calm, Healthy Hair, and Heal Quick.

Life is hard. |
Helen, the owner and mastermind, lists everything she uses in her balms. All the details can be found on the product description on her store. Let me point some things out: coconut oil (which we know I love), essential oils targeting specific issues, and an expiration date. She also uses recyclable containers. I love this lady!
Be Calm
I used Be Calm the last time I trailered Archie. I rubbed it along the bottom of his neck, so he could breathe it in. It is now going to be a definite part of my trailering the crazy pony routine. Between it and the super yucky SmartPak show prep paste, my guy had no nervous poops on his last adventure. That's huge! It's also safe for human use and Helen recommends it for bedtime for us two-legged folk. If you see me sniffing it, you know why!
Heal Quick
As you can see from the above photos, Archie had a little superficial scratch on his inside gaskin/stifle area. I applied her Heal Quick and it resolved, no issues. I compare the consistency to that of Fuze, but all-natural and with no harmful carcinogens.
Healthy Hair
My BM's kid swears that braiding the forelock will help it grow. I'm not going to discredit anything that might help with the mini-rat-tail stuck on the Kid's forehead. After having had it in a braid for a few days, I pulled it out. It was nasty and super grungy. I slathered it in her Healthy Hair to help with the crispies.
Grungy. |
Slathered. |
And, you know me. I put it in my hair, too! I let it soak for a couple hours one night, washed it, and had soft hair the next day. I think the absolute best part was that the amazing scent lingered for a few days. Sure, I got some comments about holding my hair over my face and breathing while my coworkers tried to talk to me. Screw them, it smells good!
Someone else also loves the scent.

ReplyDeleteHealthy Hair and Muscle Soothe are going to have to come live at my barn
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I have been using coconut oil as per your post on it. And I love it. These all sound so awesome. Healthy Hair, Fungus Amongus, and Heal Quick. I want.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like great stuff- I've been thinking about getting some sort of calming herbal thing for shows!
ReplyDeleteTotally want to try Healthy Hair and Heal Quick!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much everyone!! Beka your kind words make my heart so happy! And your pictures are just fantastic! I wish I had my labels in time for your order.. The pictures of Archer sniffing the jars is too cute :D he is adorable! I hope the Healthy Hair helps his little forelock continue to grow. I too am begging one of my geldings forelock to grow! I am braiding it and slathering it in Healthy Hair. It takes patience and commitment but I have seen very noticeable growth in just a month! xoxo --Helen
ReplyDeleteI want them all. I want to use healthy hair on myself…
ReplyDeleteThese sound wonderful! I would love to try Muscle Soothe and Heal Quick the most, but they all would be great. Thank you, Helen!
ReplyDeleteI would love to try the Be Calm stuff. I was just reading this morning about science behind using lavender aromatherapy for anxious horses. Great contest!
ReplyDeleteI could probably give fungus among us a good testing, since Stampede has had some skin issues for several years now that nothing seems to fix (yes the vet has looked at it and cultures were done, all to no avail). For myself I think it would be interesting to try to muscle soothe.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh-i want to try the Breathe Easy. In the spring and sometimes fall, O gets the worst allergies and her breathing is affected. Plus I have asthma so yah...double test subjects!
ReplyDeleteSoooo much fun stuff to try! I think I would be really excited to try the Be Calm for the Baconator, specifically for the trailering aspect and maybe even for a dressage show. The muscle soothing balm looks amazing as well!
ReplyDeleteI really need to go over all the products, but I'm all over trying the Be Calm this winter. The Breathe Easy sounds nice for me!
ReplyDeleteThe Etsy search engine leaves much to be desired, so I love it when bloggers share fabulous stores! I'd definitely want to try the Fungus Among Us (cute name) and the Healthy Hair salves!
ReplyDeleteI can't decide between the BeCalm or the Muscle Soothe... He's maturing and pretty chill (unless he gets stung by a bee of course but you can't help that). So I'd have to pick the Muscle Soothe. Whether I win or not, this will definitely be in my tack trunk very soon.
ReplyDelete**sniffle** It won't let me even log into the rafflecopter...
DeleteDid you get this worked out?!
DeleteThank You for a great contest and thanks Madeline C. for sharing this contest and this blog! I'm very interested in these products and I will definitely be trying them out, whether I win or not! I am very interested in the Be Calm and the Healthy Hair, though I want to try them all!
ReplyDeleteI would love to try and of them - but in particular the BeCalm. I use a stress relief essential oil myself and I would love to try one on my lease horse!
ReplyDeletePS, I just saw the pic of Archie smelling the jars and that is ADORABLE!
Deletelove this - and that last pic is too cute!
ReplyDeleteI want to heal quick!!
ReplyDeleteFungus Amongus....because I love the name and because Q needs it.
ReplyDeletehehe I'm glad someone else likes it :) I hesitated because I thought people may think I am super lame! But then I thought why not!
DeleteCool I am definitely going to try the be calm for my little diamondmaker...
ReplyDeleteOh my, so awesome! I am definitely going to have to try some of these - The fungus among us, Heal Quick, and muscle soothe are all ones I could use on an almost daily basis!
ReplyDeleteI really want to try the Be Calm and the Muscle Soothe!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great contest! I hadn't heard of this company before! I would love to try the Heal Quick! Wilbur is getting a little nicked up in pasture and would love to give this balm a try!
ReplyDeleteCool! I like the pics of Archie sniffing the jars... And I'd love to try the Healthy Hair for my mom's horse (her forelock is tinier than Archie's!) and maybe get some Muscle Soothe for myself. Fun contest!
ReplyDeleteOk so I accidentally pasted the wrong thing for the link to my blog post... So here's the right one!
